Fahmida Begum Foundation

PCP Visit

The Fahmida Begum Foundation recently hosted the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP) team for a two-day site visit to audit the renewal of our PCP Certification, which we initially achieved in 2022. The comprehensive assessment included a review of all departments, document verification, and critical interactions with beneficiaries, students, staff, and trustees. The team also inspected the construction site of our new Centre of Excellence. We appreciate the thorough evaluation and remain committed to high standards of governance and accountability, expecting to receive the renewed certificate shortly.

Celebrating Purple Tuesday 2025: Advancing Inclusivity and Accessibility

On November 4, the Fahmida Begum Foundation joined the global community to celebrate Purple Tuesday 2025. This year’s theme was “Think Accessibility,” reminding us that inclusion should be a part of everything we do every day. In collaboration with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD), Government of Sindh, a vibrant celebration was held at the Government Special Education and Rehabilitation Centre in Korangi, Karachi, featuring Chief Guest Mr. Farman Ali, Regional Director of Karachi DEPD. The event was marked by an inspiring video message from Purple Tuesday CEO Mike Adams, moving performances by SEND students, and thrilling adaptive sports demonstrations— including wheelchair cricket, basketball, and tennis—by regional champions. With over 150 participants advocating for a more accessible future, the day was made even more special by our partner Savaira (Soorty Foundation), who distributed disability-themed “Nura” dolls to the students. To symbolize our solidarity, the Foundation’s head office was lit in purple, sending a clear message that accessibility remains a collective and unwavering responsibility.
