Education & Literacy

Supported Students
1
In the heart of Mehran Town, where dreams are born and aspirations take flight, we are committed to breaking barriers through our Education and Literacy Program. Empowering minds and lighting the path to knowledge, this program is designed to create a brighter future for the community’s children.

Nurturing Young Minds, Transforming Communities

The ultimate goal of our Education and Literacy Program is to empower children from less privileged backgrounds with the gift of education. Pakistan has the world’s second-highest number of out-of-school children with an estimated 22.8 million children aged 5-16 not attending school, representing 44 per cent of the total population in this age group. We envision a community where literacy is a right, not a privilege, and where every child has the opportunity to dream, learn, and succeed. Supporting the global mission of ensuring inclusive and equitable education for all, this program aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 – Quality Education.
In our schools, we provide students with free books, school bags, stationery, uniforms, shoes, lunch and breakfast. In return, all we need is a commitment to be responsible citizens of Pakistan.
Fahmida Begum School: Our state-of-the-art school stands as an example of educational excellence, providing quality education to 170 community students. Through a harmonious blend of Islamic and traditional teaching methods, we cultivate a conducive learning environment that nurtures values and responsibility from a young age. Beyond academics, we organize regular field trips, educational excursions, and creative activities to enhance their creativity. Celebrating important days, arranging lectures from industry and educational leaders, and offering career guidance are integral parts of our commitment to holistic education.
Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Program: We firmly believe in leaving no child behind. Our dedicated Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) program, guided by Dr. Sheikh Idris, President and Co-founder of CareTech, UK, is committed to providing tailored education for children with special needs. Our approach is highly structured, benefiting from the collaboration of qualified teachers trained by MAITS (UK) and ACELP-Zia Uddin University Hospital. They work together to foster each child’s development. Our SEND Corner is specifically equipped with specialized tools that not only make learning easier but also add an element of fun to the educational process. We have also recently welcomed an experienced physiotherapist to further enhance the support and well-being of our students.

Pakistan Special Education Initiative - PSEI

The Fahmida Begum Foundation takes immense pride in its collaboration with the first Pakistan Special Education Initiative (PSEI), organized by the CareTech Foundation. This groundbreaking project harnesses the collective expertise of the CareTech Group to meticulously develop Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) resources in Pakistan, ensuring a robust, structured, and sustainable impact.
In partnership with CareTech, the initiative aims to establish a local enterprise in Pakistan that will provide the following essential functions:
1. Curriculum Development for SEND: Crafting a tailored curriculum to address the unique needs of Special Educational Needs and Disability students.
2. Training Certifications: Offering comprehensive training certifications to enhance the skills and knowledge of educators and professionals in the field.
3. Bespoke Training Provision to Schools: Delivering customized training programs to schools, empowering them to better cater to the diverse needs of students with SEND.
4. Recruitment and Upskilling of Local Experts: Identifying and nurturing local talent by recruiting and upskilling experts in the field of Special Education.
5. Establishment of a Centre of Excellence: Creating a dedicated Centre of Excellence that will continuously work towards developing and advancing SEND resources in Pakistan.
The CareTech Foundation, as a key partner, will contribute funding and engage internationally recognized delivery partners, ensuring the success of the program. Additionally, the COSARAF Foundation will leverage its extensive network in Pakistan and facilitate connections to CareTech, ensuring that local expertise takes the lead in driving the project forward. CareTech, in turn, will provide unparalleled expertise and access to the highest standards of training and trainers, ensuring the initiative’s success in creating a lasting impact on Special Education in Pakistan.
Scholarships: Bridging the gap between potential and opportunity, our scholarship program provides financial support to students from school to university levels. This initiative aims to foster a culture of academic excellence, ensuring that bright and deserving students have the resources they need to pursue their educational dreams.
